HERMITAGE, AR

SEPTEMBER 2025
76' x 18'

This mural, located at Clanton Farms, was commissioned by Revitalize Hermitage with the assistance of donors and the Division of Arkansas Heritage. The artwork serves as a tribute to the town’s farming heritage and its future. Hermitage is known across Arkansas for its tomatoes, but also for its strong FFA program, which has shaped generations of young farmers and leaders. I wanted to celebrate both the abundance of the land and the people who care for it.

The central figure of the farmer represents not just the labor of today, but also the hands of the next generation. Programs like FFA remind us that agriculture is about more than tradition; it is about innovation, stewardship, and the future of rural communities.

At a time when farmers across the state are navigating challenges of sustainability, fair labor, and market pressures, this mural is a reminder of how important it is to value farm work and support the people who feed us. My hope is that it inspires pride in Hermitage’s agricultural roots and sparks conversation about how we can ensure farming families and future farmers continue to thrive.

Special thanks to the city of Hermitage, Leah McIntyre, and the Division of Arkansas Heritage.
